Kink Awareness Therapy Training - Session 3 Learning Path

Kink Awareness Therapy Training - Session 3

Kink Awareness Therapy Training (KATT) Session 3 builds upon the foundational and applied concepts covered in previous sessions by focusing on advanced clinical integration, ethical decision-making, and complex case conceptualization. Participants will deepen their ability to provide competent, affirming, and culturally responsive care for kink-identified individuals, partners, and relationship systems. Through case-based learning, facilitated discussion, and practical application exercises, clinicians will explore nuanced clinical presentations, intersectionality, power dynamics, consent frameworks, risk assessment considerations, and ethical challenges that may arise in therapeutic practice. Emphasis is placed on strengthening clinical confidence, reducing stigma, and enhancing therapeutic effectiveness when working with diverse expressions of sexuality, identity, and relationship structures. This training is designed for behavioral health professionals seeking to advance their competency beyond foundational awareness and develop practical strategies for integrating kink-affirming principles into assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and ongoing clinical care. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to: Apply advanced kink-affirming clinical frameworks to complex client presentations. Analyze the role of consent, negotiation, and power exchange within kink relationships from a non-pathologizing perspective. Differentiate ethical concerns, clinical risk factors, and consensual kink practices. Incorporate intersectional and culturally responsive considerations into treatment planning. Identify and address clinician bias that may impact assessment, diagnosis, or therapeutic alliance. Develop clinically appropriate interventions that support client autonomy, safety, and therapeutic goals.
